Delray Lee Hertel, age 75, of Thomas, Oklahoma passed away on February 1, 2022, in his home of natural causes. Delray was born to Fred and Hildegard Hertel on January 24, 1947 in McLaughlin, SD. He was 1 of 18 children of that union. Delray was married to Sharon J. Moe in 1976 and had one daughter, Aleen "Michelle" Gray, together. In January 1979, he married his current wife, Ruby McClintock, and they were together until her death in 2006. Delray and Ruby spent many years as foster parents and shared their home and love with more than 150 children. Delray was a jack of all trades working in construction and farming but his passion was driving truck over the road. Delray loved cars and wrestling. He enjoyed playing pool and having cookouts with his friends and neighbors. He never knew a stranger and always seen the best in people. Delray is preceded in death by his parents, multiple siblings and his wife, Ruby. He is survived by his daughter Aleen Michelle Gray, one grandson Colton Gray and many family members and friends. His kindness, companionship and love will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in Thomas, OK on February 12, 2022 at 11:30 am with dinner following.
