Funeral: 2:00 PM Friday, March 28th, 2014First Baptist Church

Funeral service for Dayne Clark Ledford, 86 year-old Weatherford, OK resident, will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at Alfalfa Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Dayne Clark Ledford was born on August 18, 1927 to Elbert Ledford and Catherine Carlile Ledford and passed away on March 22, 2014 at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 16 days.

Dayne was born near Alfalfa, OK where he was raised and attended all twelve years, graduating from Alfalfa High School. Dayne drove the school bus his junior and senior years and was very active in sports. He attended he Alfalfa Baptist Church and was saved during a revival when he was 15 years old and was Baptised at the Cedar Creek swimming hole. He started custom harvesting with his dad when he was 13 years-old and after graduating from school he started on his own. He was in this business for 26 years. Harvesting for him was a seven or eight month job a year as he did all types of grain and cotton.

Dayne liked to work and he also had three semi trucks and hauled grain to Houston and cotton seed and cotton bales to Phoenix. He farmed, raised cattle, had a well drilling business and was a welder. In his later years he took up fence building. He liked to visit with all these people and made many friends.

Dayne married Evelou Lamb on October 6, 1945. Dayne and Evelou had three childrentwo daughters and one son, Jerry Dayne, who only lived two days. They traveled a lot in their work so they lived in a trailer home. In 1960, they built their first house one mile north of Carnegie, OK. In 1971 they moved to Weatherford, OK.

Dayne is survived by his wife of the home; daughters Linda Lou of the home and Gloria Jean Sunderland and her husband Jerry of Edmond, OK; one very special granddaughter, Amber Leigh Reynolds and her fianc Wes Harms; one sister, Glenora Nance of Oklahoma City; several nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-law Ruth and brother-in-law Bill who he loved very much. Dayne was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerry Dayne; one brother, Cletis; one sister-in-law Gussie Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Buster Smith and Dell Horn.
