Obituary

Danny Wayne Rhoads was born July 4, 1946, at his grandmother's home in Weatherford to Delmer and Jessie Rhoads. Danny passed away at Maple Lawn Manor of Hydro on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the age of 79.

His family lived on a farm north of Colony, where he attended Colony School for 12 years. While attending high school, he drove a school bus for Colony School and graduated in 1965. Many summers were spent working with wheat harvest crews. After high school, Danny worked at an automotive parts store during the day while attending night classes at the Oklahoma City Automotive School. Upon completion of the Automotive School, Danny chose to enlist in the U. S. Army in March of 1966, reported for basic training, and then was sent to the Vietnam War September 1966. He returned to the states September of 1967 after finishing his tour in Vietnam. His service to the U.S. Army ended with an honorable discharge September 1968. April 1, 1968, Danny began working for Gene's Auto Clinic and worked there for six years. He was employed with 3M in November of 1974 working 38 years as a Machinest and later worked in the boiler house. In 1980 Danny committed to being a Volunteer Firefighter with the Weatherford Fire Department, later retiring with 22 years of service in 2000. Danny enjoyed many days fishing and hunting with friends and family. While often spending his free time and vacation days at the lake fishing from his boat. He taught his children to enjoy the outdoors and how to deer hunt. One of his favorite spots to vacation was taking his family to Branson many times throughout the years. He was a member and actively attended First Baptist Church in Weatherford. Memorials can be made to the Weatherford First Baptist church college student group.

Sometime later Danny and former wife Kay had their daughter, Shauna Rhoads. In 1976 he met his current wife and is survived by his wife Sandy Rhoads of 49 years and their two grown children and families. Christy Sterba and husband Josh along with children Katelyn and Riley Sterba. Dusty Rhoads and wife Krystal with their son Cameron Lester.
