Obituary

Danna Lee (Miller) Watson was born August 24, 1961, in Thomas, Oklahoma to Leon Winston "Buzz" and Mona Darlene (Kelley) Miller, and passed away Monday, June 30, 2025 in Melbourne, Australia.

Danna was raised and attended school in Thomas, graduating with the Class of 1979.  She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Oklahoma State University in 1983. After college, she completed a Medical Technologist Certificate at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City in 1984.  While at OSU she met her husband, Roger Watson and they were married on October 13, 1984 in Thomas, OK. They first made their home in Beaumont, Texas and then followed the oil field, moving in short order to Mustang, OK; Bossier City, LA; Balikpapan, Indonesia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and in 1998 to Frisco, TX.  During those years, Danna thrived on the adventure of building a loving home and strong community in so many different places. She served as a Sunday School teacher or Girls in Action leader in many of their church homes over the years. This is also when she began collecting Christmas nativities. In 2004, they returned to Oklahoma and made their home in Weatherford. She was active in the Weatherford Band Boosters for almost a decade, and enjoyed the hundreds of band, choir, and piano concerts she attended. After her youngest daughter graduated from high school, Danna returned to work as a medical technologist in the laboratories at Clinton Hospital, Clinton Indian Health Services, and El Reno Indian Health Services, but could also be found alongside her husband, working cattle on the farm.  She retired in 2023 to focus on travelling and enjoying her grandchildren.  Danna was a proud and involved parent and grandparent, and she cared for those around her with practical support and a wonderful listening ear. She and Roger joined FBC Weatherford shortly after moving back to Oklahoma, and she attended and served there for almost 20 years. She found strength and comfort in her faith.  She enjoyed cross-stitch, craftwork, books, and puzzles.

Danna is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Roger Watson of their home in Weatherford; three daughters, Samantha VanDusen and husband, David of Alice Springs, Australia, Laura Keefover and husband, Jacob of Yukon, OK, and Jennifer Watson of Denton, TX; mother, Darlene Miller of Thomas; brother, Wesley Craig Miller and wife, Regina of Clinton; twin sister, Donna Mizer and husband, Gary of Custer City; three grandchildren, Cora and Violet VanDusen and Zoe Keefover; father-in-law, Charles Watson and wife, Sharon; and sister-in-law, Debra Facio and husband, Anthony.  She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Winston "Buzz" Miller; her grandparents, Boyd and Lueva Miller of Thomas, and Earl and Beryl Kelley of Clinton; sister-in-law, Rebecca Watson; and mother-in-law, Lena Watson.
