Daniel Richard Smith was born October 14, 1946, in Oney, OK, to Millard Filmore and Iva Mae (Johnson) Smith and passed away Sunday, January 25, 2026, in Oklahoma City, OK. Daniel was raised and attended school in Oney and later attended Weatherford High School. Daniel moved to Tucson, Arizona where he attended Junior College. He later attended vocational school in Oklahoma. He worked for many years for Custer County District 2 and later earned his CDL license and had a long career in truck driving. On June 30, 1979, Daniel married Janet Marie (Deaton) Smith in Weatherford at the First Baptist Church.

Daniel was a strong man of faith who loved the Lord. He also loved driving a truck, fishing and hunting, and sports of all kinds. Being together with his beloved family and friends was his most cherished time. Daniel could carry on a conversation with anyone and will be remembered as a one-of-a-kind person.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet of their home in Weatherford; son, Kevin Johnston and wife, Melissa; four daughters, Kandi McIntyre, Kristi Wells and husband, David, Kari Buddy and husband, Stephen, and Kimberly Smith; brother, Hershall Smith; sister, Norma Hale; grandchildren, Timothy Johnston, Logan Johnston, Tara Astafan, Levi Johnston, Nathan Wells, Chad Wells, Cameron Patee, Evan Astafan, Hailey Patee, Rylee Patee, Wyatt Buddy, Gracie McIntyre, and Luke Johnston; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, George McIntyre; his siblings, Tommy, Charles, Zelda, Lavell, Millard, Phil and Linda.
