Cynthia Diane Gauger, 64, of Weatherford passed away on Saturday March 17, 2012 at Saint Anthonys Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on September 19, 1947 in Borger Texas to Elan and Robie (Dill) Massey, Cynthia spent her childhood growing up in both Borger TX and California where she moved with her family.
Cynthia graduated from High School in 1966 in San Jose, California. In 1970, Cynthia graduated from Southwestern State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education in 1975.
Cynthia married her best friend, James Edward Gauger on March 6, 1970. During their 41 years of marriage they created life-long memories and friendships as they made their home together in Weatherford.
Cynthia was a favorite of the students she taught during her 17 years as an Elementary School teacher in Weatherford. Upon retirement, Cynthia spent her time happily working at the Weatherford Public Library where she encouraged others in her lifelong passion of reading.
Cynthia is survived by her two sons, Cody Gauger of Weatherford and Cale Gauger of Tulsa, one grandson, Landon Gauger of Muskogee and one sister, Nancy Roediger of Ft. Worth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gauger and her parents, Elan and Robbie (Dill) Massey, an infant sister Joyce Elaine, and an infant nephew Jeffrey Roediger.
Cynthia enjoyed traveling, reading, and fine dining with an emphasis on desserts! Most of all, Cynthia was a loving and devoted mom, wife and friend. She leaves a tremendous legacy of love, devotion, character and humor and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation in Cynthias name to the Weatherford Public Library or the First Baptist Church of Weatherford.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford, Oklahoma.
