Obituary

Connie Ester (Zoldoske) Berrong was born August 8, 1941, in Laverne, OK to Olen and Wilma (Hayden) Zoldoske and passed away peacefully Monday, May 17, 2021, at her home in Weatherford, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 9 days.

Connie was raised on the family farm and attended school in Laverne, graduating with the class of 1959.  She was proud to be a twirler for the Oklahoma State University band while she pursued a degree in Business.

Upon graduating from OSU in 1963, on June 1, Connie married Mark Douglas Berrong in Stillwater.  Mark & Connie made their home in Weatherford, but with Mark working as a realtor their home was "always for sale."  Connie was surprised one time to walk into her closet to find someone else's clothes – Mark had sold their house again!  Connie certainly felt one of her greatest accomplishments was juggling a family, a full-time job and moving 27 times!

Connie began her career at First National Bank & Trust Co. of Weatherford in 1964 as one of the founding employees.  While working full-time, she went on to earn her MBA from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1979.  She worked her way up to be a Sr. Vice President of the bank and retired after 33 years.

Connie was an avid reader.  She enjoyed needle work, cross-stitch, embroidery, sewing, quilting, and crossword puzzles.  Her most favorite treat was chocolate ice cream.  Connie belonged to Athenian Club, Rotary Ann's and several bridge clubs.  She also volunteered for Early Bird Readers at Burcham Elementary, hoping to spark the same love of reading within young children that she maintained throughout her entire life.

Connie is survived by two daughters, Mundy Berrong Green and husband Dennis, and Sherri Berrong both of Weatherford; one brother, Lannie Zoldoske of May, OK; three grandchildren, Payton Berrong, Jaxon Green and Tobi Green; and one great-grandchild, Nyla Berrong, along with numerous extended family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Linda Zoldoske; sister-in-law Sue Zoldoske; and a daughter, Christy Tre Berrong, in infancy.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Russel-Murray Hospice and to Mitzi Pappilli, Sylvia Spain, and Sherri Gaylord for their exceptional care given to Connie.  Memorials may be made to the Bulldog Angels Fund at SWOSU or the Great Plains Family YMCA in Weatherford.
