Funeral service for Claude Eugene Hafer, 88 year-old Rio Vista, CA resident, will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Hydro Masonic Cemetery with Fr. Raphael Moore officiating. Burial is under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home

Claude was born on August 23, 1926, in Hydro, Oklahoma to Homer Clark and Alta K (Kirkpatrick) Hafer and passed away on January 5, 2015 in Fairfield, California. He was raised and attended school in Hydro, graduating from Hydro High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II. On September 15, 1946, he was married to Olga Zimninski in Salzburg, Austria. After earning an honorable discharge in 1947 they returned and made their home in Oklahoma City. He worked for Kimray in Oklahoma City. In 1960, Claude and his family moved to San Francisco, California where they made their home. He worked for State Farm, Prudential Insurance, and Gerber Baby food before retiring. He enjoyed watching old movies, big band music, and eating ice cream.

Claude is survived by one son, Roderick Hafer of Rio Vista, CA; one daughter, Claudia Tondi and husband Gerald of Easton, CT; and four grandchildren, Jason and Nicholas Hafer and Alanna and Mark Tondi. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, William and Hubert; and two sisters, Ruby and Melba.
