Funeral services for Charlotte Elsie Nutry, 90 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, July 11, 2014, 2:00 P.M. in The Chapel of Lockstone Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Brack officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Charlotte was born March 11, 1924, south of Weatherford, Oklahoma to Charlie Otis and Edith Mary (Armitage) Scales and passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Charlotte was raised south of Weatherford and graduated from Colony High School in 1942. She attended Southwestern State Teachers College; taught in Sudan, Oklahoma and earned her degree in 1984 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. While at Southwestern Teachers College she met Walter John Nutry in Neff Hall and they fell in love and moved to New Jersey. On August 14, 1945, they married in Waldwick, New Jersey and made their home in Paramus, New Jersey where they raised their family. Charlotte worked at Witco Chemical Company for 20 years and retired in 1979. They moved to Weatherford and lived on the family farm. Charlotte came out of retirement and worked at Southwestern Oklahoma State University until she finally retired at the age of 89.

Charlotte is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Bekas of Haskell, New Jersey, Jackie Nutry and Pat LoVecchio both of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one son, John Nutry of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one brother, Don Scales of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two sisters, Lodema Burgess of Pasco, Washington and Gwen Taylor and husband, Freddy of Santa Cruz, California; one sister-in-law, Sharon Scales of Eakly, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Dorothy and Margaret; and three brothers, Leon, Duke, and Darwin.
