Obituary

C.B. Keith, known by those who loved him as Salty Keith, passed away at the age of 98 in his home in Thomas, Oklahoma, on February 8, 2022. Salty and his twin brother, C.D. Keith, were born to Charles B. and Esther Dora Elizabeth (Coburn) Keith on November 16, 1923, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Salty worked as a farm laborer in his early years. He began working for the Frisco Railroad in 1944 and continued until his retirement in 1976, He married his wife, Coqueece Keith, in 1950. After a short period in Vernon, Texas, Salty and Coke built their lives in Thomas, Oklahoma where they raised their four children and Coke's sister Sue and lovingly welcomed their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1963, Salty took a second job working for the Custer County doing road work and supervising the Thomas landfill. He retired from supervising the Thomas landfill in 1991.

Throughout his life, Salty enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, watching the weather, growing tomatoes and Okra. Drinking coffee with his buddies and playing dominoes with any willing player. Salty lived his life with no regrets ~ when asked if he would change anything, he replied, "Nothing. I like the life I have." To know him was to love him, and he will be greatly missed.

Salty was preceded in death by his wife Coqueece, his daughter, Cathy Nickel, daughter-in-law Melvia, Keith, grandson Scott Keith, great-great-granddaughter, Cylene Keith, his parents, three brothers, and six sisters. He is survived by his children, Carl Barney Keith, Cary Don Keith, and Debby Jones. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
