Elizabeth Carleen Clear was born July 25, 1936, in Weatherford, to Ed and Elizabeth (Hastings) Umbach and passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Maple Lawn Manor in Hydro, at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 29 days.

Carleen was raised south of Weatherford and attended Normalview Country School and later transferred to Weatherford where she graduated with the Class of 1955.  After graduation she attended secretarial school.  Carleen married and had three children, started raising her family in Kingfisher and later to Topeka, KS.  She returned to the farm in Weatherford in 1961.  Carleen worked at SWOSU in the administration office and secretary in the athletic department from 1962 to 1996.  She married Joe Clear in 1974 in Weatherford.  She was an avid collector of nativity sets with over 800 scenes.  Carleen was a member of the Red Hat Club, Pink Lady's with the Weatherford Regional Hospital Auxillary, Hydro High Steppers, basketweaving at the Pioneer Center, and going to her grandchildren's activities.  Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.

Carleen is survived by one son, Carl Stephenson of Weatherford; two daughters, Ann Vogt and husband, Tony of Corn and Elizabeth Kliewer and husband, Perry of Mustang; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; step-sons, Owen Clear and wife, Lita of Lawton and Greg Clear and wife, Mikka of Amarillo, TX; step-daughter, Neva Jo Taff and husband, Dale of Eakly; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Clear of Hydro.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Weibke Scrimshire; two step-children, Dale Clear and Sharon (Clear) Jewell; and daughter-in-law, Kimi (Boling) Stephenson.
