Obituary

Calvin Ray Beachy was born to Melvin and Cora (Stutzman) Beachy on April 21, 1963 at their home in rural Thomas, Oklahoma. He peacefully slipped away to his new home on October 12, 2019, after a brief illness, at the age of 56 years, 5 months, and 21 days.

At an early age it became apparent that Calvin was one of God's special children. Although he was unable to talk, many times we were impressed by his knowledge and unique manner of communication. He loved the outdoors and life on the farm. He was especially fond of animals, and through the years we enjoyed watching his dogs and other pets respond to his call.

Calvin was Mom's constant companion and spent many hours checking the cattle and riding the tractor with her. After Dad's passing in 2002 it seemed that Calvin's care for Mom increased. When Mom passed away in 2006 his life was drastically changed. At that time Bethel Home, in Montezuma, Kansas, welcomed him. The first years held difficult adjustments for him, but through patient loving care the staff won his confidence. He enjoyed living there 8 years until 2014 when he went to live at Arrowhead West in Pratt, Kansas. Again, there were adjustments for Calvin, but he found acceptance in his new surroundings. Calvin loved those he lived with and was loved by them. As a family we are grateful for the patience, dedication and love of his caregivers.

Left with pleasant memories are his family; one brother Leon, wife Carol, Versailles, Mo, one sister, Linda, husband Ron Schmidt, Macon, MS, eight nieces and nephews, and three special aunties, Beverly, Karen, and Trixie Schmidt of Hydro, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
