Funeral services for C. Eloise Lois Bagby, 78 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Eugene Catholic Church with Father Mark Mason officiating, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Lois was born August 30, 1934 5 miles north of Weatherford, Oklahoma to Henry Clay and Myrtle (Whitworth) Green and passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Lois was raised and attended school in Oklahoma, Kansas, California and returned to Oklahoma where she graduated from Weatherford High School in 1953. Upon graduation, she entered in the nursing program at Southwestern State College. On January 14, 1956, Lois married Don Bagby in Wichita, Kansas and made their home in Haysville, Kansas. They returned to Weatherford where she re-entered Southwestern State College and earned her Bachelor of Art and Science teaching degree and eventually her Masters in education. Lois taught in Clinton Public Schools for 23 years and made Teacher of the Year in 1990. She was also cheerleader sponsor before retiring in 1991. After retirement, she spent much of her time doing volunteer work for her church, the Pioneer Center and various other organizations. For many years Lois worked on a childrens book title Sofie Meets a Wobble that was published in 2012. She really enjoyed working at the election polls and did it for many years. Lois was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed photography and had her camera in hand at every event. Lois had a love for cooking and was very good in the kitchen. She occupied her time reading, gardening, working cross-word puzzles, making baskets and numerous other crafts. She was also a marvelous painter and so much more. Most of all Lois loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois was an amazing, inspiring and loving person and she will be greatly missed by many.
Lois is survived by her husband of 57 years, Don Bagby of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; one son, Ray Bagby and wife, Janice of Weatherford, Oklahoma; four daughters, Donna Kellison of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mary Chrismon of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Teresa Payne and husband, Mark of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Kaelyn Elkins and husband, Rick of Sentinel, Oklahoma; three brothers, Bob Green and wife, Charlotte of Ponca city, Oklahoma, Vernon Green and wife, Sheila Green of Arlington, Texas, and Dennis Green and wife, Teresa of Weatherford, Oklahoma; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Tom Green; and two great-grandsons, Brandon Kirkland and Ryan Elkins.
