Graveside services for Buster Lee Simmons, 91 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. in Geary Cemetery with Tony Cannon officiating, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. here at the funeral home.

Buster was born September 2, 1921 in Stigler, Oklahoma to A.A. and Sylvia (Cole) Simmons and passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at Weatherford Living Center in Weatherford, Oklahoma. The family moved to a farm northeast of Altus when Buster was three years old. Buster graduated from Friendship High School (now Navajo High), then enlisted in the U.S. Air force. He served in Italy during WWII with the 15th Air Force and the 8th Air Force from 1942 to 1946, was held in the Air Force Reserves until 1954. Buster married Rena Mae White of Geary, Oklahoma in 1948. They had two sons, Donnie Arthur and Terry Mark.

Buster received his B.S. degree from SWOSU and an Administrators Certification from OU. He served as elementary principal at Hinton, Oklahoma eight years and at Geary twelve years. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Geary, which he served as Moderator at one time. He also served on the board of the Blaine County Opportunities Inc. His farming operations and demands of custom combining were enough to bring resignation from school administration and employment full time in agri-business.

After Busters wife Renas death, he married Sharon Hare Cleveland of Cordell, Oklahoma in 1985. When Buster retired from farming, he spent many afternoons on golf courses of Western Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Pine Acres Youth Fund.

Buster is survived by his wife, Sharon of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; sons, Don Simmons and wife, Marilyn of Waxahachie, Texas and Terry Mark Simmons and wife, Amanda of Yukon, Oklahoma; stepdaughters, Dana Hare Bessinger and husband, Barry of Watonga, Oklahoma, Lisa Hare Storm and husband, John of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, Kyndal Hare Roark and husband, Rod of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Donelle Simmons, Deva Garlock, Bobby Simmons, MaeLee Merritt, Jenna Simmons, Kerry Hites, Travis Bessinger, Jay Bessinger, Meredith Storm, Nick Storm, Keaton Roark, and Ross Roark; and great-grandchildren, Rena Grace Garlock, Amber Merritt, and Kamden Bessinger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rena; and his sister, Lorene Fink.
