Funeral services for Billye Ayers Gray, 89 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, will be held Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Church of Christ with Bruce Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Billye was born September 17, 1923 in Bessie, Oklahoma to Joe Shelby and Elfie (Overstreet) Wheeler and passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Billye was raised and attended school in Cordell, Oklahoma and graduated from Cordell High School in 1941. Upon graduation she moved to Weatherford where in later years she received her Bachelor and Master Degrees in education from Southwestern State College. On November 25, 1959, Billye married Dr. Thomas Merrill Gray in Weatherford. She taught 2nd grade in Arapaho, Oklahoma for numerous years. She was active in many capacities with her church and hosted many events in their home. Billye enjoyed her family time, quilting, cooking, civic organizations, traveling, and helping others. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Christian University Music Department or to the Agape Clinic in Weatherford.

Billye is survived by two sons, Dr. Ken Adams and wife, Lindy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mel Adams and wife, Bonnie of Boquete, Panama; one daughter, Lisa Riley and husband, Mike of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; five grandchildren, Elliott Adams, Elizabeth Adams, Bryan Adams, Matthew Riley, and Meghan (Riley) Perry and husband, Jeffrey; and numerous nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Betty Lou Parker and Marjorie Jones Clark; granddaughter, Meredith Adams; and nephew, Woody Parker.
