Billy was raised and attended school in Hydro, Oklahoma and graduated from Hydro High School in 1983. He worked harvest in the summer and also two ranches in Oklahoma before receiving his commercial license to be a truck driver.
His lifelong dream was to someday own his own trucking company. So, he spent the better part of his life working for different companies (Slagells & Hammers) to name a few, hauling cattle, grain and many other things. He also enjoyed teaming with his good friend Roger Sodders, driving over the road for Celadon.
He met Stacy (Hays) Perry in 1992, and later married on February 14, 1998. They made their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma. They drove truck over the road together and other jobs until in September 1999, Billys dream came true when he bought his first Peterbilt and by 2004 had his own company, Runnels Trucking. He was very successful, driving every mile earned for 12 years. He felt that he full filled his lifelong dream.
In October of 2011, he had an opportunity to work for Hamm & Phillips Service Company of Tioga, North Dakota. He loved the cold so off he went. There he ran Superheaters and then becoming the yard manager for Tioga, North Dakota.
He loved his family, friends and co-workers. He especially loved his step son Gordon that he raised as if he was his own. Gordon, you made him very proud!
