Billie Sybil
Kerdus
August 20, 1927 – March 25, 2024
Billie Sybil Kerdus was born August 20, 1927, in Komalty, OK, to Porter and Betty (Williams) Teems and passed away Monday, March 25, 2024, peacefully in the loving arms of her daughters in Weatherford, at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 28 days.
Billie had been placed on hospice and spent her last week surrounded by family and friends at the home of her daughter in Weatherford.
Billie was known for her work ethic and dedicated years to working in the cleaning industry. She most enjoyed working at nursing homes and visiting with the residents. Billie loved to share her life experiences and the joy her family brought her.
Billie's greatest love and pleasure was God, family and her beloved companion dog Duck. Billie loved to visit with family and friends sharing her 96 years of memories ad experiences. Billie dedicated many loving hours to her grandchildren and later in life enjoyed seeing each succeed in their endeavors. Billie was an avid gardener and was well-known at the Van Horn community for her beautiful flowers and her love of the outdoors. She and her wonderful friends at Van Horn regularly spent hours sitting outside visiting. In her younger years, Billie was an active member at the Weatherford Pioneer Center. She proudly accepted the "Volunteer of the Year" award several times for the hours she spent helping others. Billie's strength came from her love of God. She was an active member at the Emmanual Baptist church in Weatherford until a few years ago when her health started to fail. She still enjoyed the visits from the ministers and the weekly news letters from the church.
Billie is survived by two daughters, Mary Thornhill of Weatherford, OK and Lynn Wood and husband, Scott of New Home, TX; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Danny Willis, Tony Willis and Buddy Dale Penner; son-in-law, Keith Thornhill; two brothers, John Teems and Jack Teems; three sisters, Imogene Brazel, Joy Bright and Wanda McClure; and one grandson, Brad Willis.
