Obituary

Betty Pearl Smith was born June 27, 1939, in Ada, Oklahoma to James Berry and Mary Elizabeth (Wallace) Manuel and passed away, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Weatherford Regional Hospital, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 23 days.

Betty was one of 14 children, 10 sisters, and 4 brothers. She had a twin brother, Billy Earl, who only lived to be 19 days old. Betty grew up around Chickasha, Oklahoma. In November of 1956, she met the love of her life, Kenneth Lee Smith, and they were married on January 18, 1957, she was 17 and he was 19. They soon started their family and they had five children, Johnnie, Keith, Randy, Karen, and Travis. In the early years of their marriage, Betty and Kenneth resided in Dumas, Texas, but moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma in November 1977 where their family continued to grow. Betty and Kenneth were married for 58 years until his death on April 25, 2015.

Betty had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always there for every activity they were involved in and she was everyone's biggest fan. She went to every sporting event from itty-bitty soccer to high school football and we could always hear her cheering from the crowd. She loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made sure that each one had a unique and special place in her heart. She loved to play solitaire and watch old western movies, but the one thing she loved the most was to be surrounded by her family. She was one of the sweetest and most caring ladies you would ever meet and you could see the love she had for her family radiate from her.

Betty was a woman of God and attended Life Fellowship Church in Weatherford.

Betty is survived by her four sons: Johnnie Smith and wife Pat of Claude, Texas; Keith Smith of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Randy Smith and wife Ronda of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and Travis Smith and wife Brandie of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Grandma, you have left such a legacy. You are and always will be the heart of this family. We are so sad that you are no longer here to cheer for us from the crowd or spoil us. We know you are in a much better place and you are dancing with Grandpa and Karen as we speak. Heaven is rejoicing as they have received such an amazing woman. I know you will watch over all of us as we continue to build this family you created. We love you so much and we know we will see you again. - Kenlee
