Barbara was born to Forrest Dean and Hazel (Bates) Hatfield on April 19, 1934, in Bessie, Oklahoma and went to Heaven to be with the Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her father was a sharecropper living in Eakly, Sickles, Colony and Oney. He purchased a farm in 1943, in the Broxton community. At the age of 14, Barbara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior while on a youth Christian Camp with the Mt. Zion Church of Broxton. She graduated from Broxton High School in 1952 while participating in the sports she loved, basketball and softball.
After high school she attended Southwestern State college in Weatherford and worked at the Porterhouse Caf. There, she met her special husband to be, Calvin Reuben Kissler. Just after college she was employed at Mid-Continental Life Insurance in Oklahoma City for two years. Calvin and Barbara married on May 24, 1955 at the Apache Christian Church.
After marriage they moved to Weatherford to live on the farm where Calvin raised wheat and cattle all of his life. He was a hard worker and good manager who passed away at age 89 on December 9, 2012.
In 1960, Barbara began working at the USDA (ASCS) in Clinton, Oklahoma and continued on for 30 years. She enjoyed her work as well as getting to know the Custer County farmers which she still called friends.
After retirement, she remained busy volunteering at the Weatherford Memorial Hospital, food pantry, TRIAD-NARFE, and the Zion Church VBS. They were longtime members of the Zion Church.
Calvin and Barbara had two sons, Weldon Benjamin in 1957 and Dennis Reuben in 1962 and both graduated from Oklahoma State University.
