Alta Rhea (Pebley) Robinson was born to Lucious Pebley and Dorothy Ellen (Loughmiller) Pebley on July 29, 1921 on a farm near Arapaho, Oklahoma. She went to be with her Lord on December 28, 2014 at Corn Heritage Village of Weatherford.
Alta was born in Arapaho, Oklahoma. As a small child the family moved to the Anaheim, California area. She accepted the Lord as her savior at the age of 12 in a revival meeting in California. In the Fall of 1937 the family moved back to Weatherford, Oklahoma where she finished school. As a young woman she moved back to California to assist with the war efforts. She met her soon to be husband, Joe Robinson, at Port Huenema, California. They were married on February 21, 1942 and lived over 40 years in Oxnard, California. To this union two sons were born, Billy Dwayne Robinson and John Wayne Robinson.
Alta worked as a psychiatric nurse at the Camarillo State Hospital in Camarillo, California. Joe passed away on July 12, 1970. After his death she worked as a seamstress in a factory making fireproof firemens uniforms. In October of 1981 she moved to Weatherford and bought a home here to be near her mother and family.
Alta was a devout Christian and devoted to her Lord, her church and her family. She has devoted more than 40 years working with suffering alcoholics and addicts. She was instrumental in forming the local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous and was always present to council anyone that had the need.
She is survived by her eldest son, Billy Dwayne Robinson and Lena Faye of Hillsboro, Texas; one sister, Margaret Pebley of Weatherford; eight grandchildren, Bill and Ellen Robinson, Joe and Cindy Robinson, Ben Robinson, Diane Robinson, Daniel Robinson, Sean and Kristen Robinson, Kelly and Cole Williams, and Kevin Robinson and Amber Rae; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Alta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, John Robinson; two step daughters, Jolene Rusick and Irene Plaunty; one step-granddaughter, Donna; two brothers, L.A. Buster Pebley and Jerry Pebley; and two sisters, Louise Hannah and Laverne Bertles.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Weatherford, youth projects or The Promise Keepers.
