Obituary

Allen Junior Maynard was born March 15, 1944, in Colony to Rudolph Luther and Dorothy Marie (Harris) Maynard and passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Weatherford Regional Hospital, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 14 days.

Allen was raised north of Colony and attended school in Weatherford, graduating with the Class of 1962. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and attended Southwestern State College studying architecture. Allen returned to the Army National Guard full time as the Oklahoma Unit Supply Specialist. On December 31, 1982, he married Alene Epperly in Weatherford. They lived in Durant, McAlester, Hawthorne and moved back to Weatherford in 1999 when he retired with the Army National Guard. Allen enjoyed traveling to Colorado, fishing, planting trees, gardening, tinkering around the house and building onto their home. Friends and family will remember him as always willing to help anyone and everyone. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Allen is survived by his wife, Alene Maynard of their home in Weatherford; his two daughters, Cynthia (Tommy) McDaniel of Weatherford, and Deborah Maynard Kidd of Mustang; Alene's children, Saundra (Scott) Wills of Skiatook, Teresa Kelley of Woodward, Nita Carter of Weatherford, Richard (Andra) Epperly of Weatherford, aunts and uncles, Eula Payne-Constien and Earl (Janice) Maynard; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunts and uncles, D.V. (Cleo) Maynard, Ward (Mae) Maynard, Alice (Leonard) Branson, Mary (Ed) Page and Zane Payne.
