Obituary

Funeral: 2:00 PM Friday, March 16th, 2012Bethany Brethren in Christ Church

Funeral services for Aaron Leroy Switzer (Buddie), 87 year-old Weatherford resident, will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Bethany Brethren in Christ Church in Thomas, with Rev. Charles Rickel and Pastor James Rainwater officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, southwest of Thomas, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas. A formal visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:30 8:00 PM at Lockstone Funeral Home of Thomas.

Aaron Leroy Switzer (Buddie) was born November 14, 1924, to Aaron and Annie Switzer of Thomas, Oklahoma, and passed away at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma, on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.

Buddie was raised on a farm southwest of Thomas and attended Thomas Schools for grades 1 through 8. He graduated from Jabbok Bible School south of Thomas in 1942. He served two years in the U.S. Army, serving one year in Manilla. He married Erma Lois Brandt in 1947 at Belleville, Kansas. Buddie took over his parents farm after he was married and continued farming until he retired. Buddie had three daughters, Cheryl Jean, Elaine Kay, and Debra Jo. Buddie accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1953, was baptized and was a member of the Bethany Brethren in Christ Church of Thomas, Oklahoma. Buddie served sixteen years on the ASCS Committee, and many years on the Board of Directors of the Bethany Christian Village in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He helped with the Boys Christian Service Brigade at Bethany, and also served as church treasurer for many years. His favorite pastime was attending the activities of his children and grandchildren. Buddie and his wife, Erma, moved to Weatherford in 2000, and he became a resident at Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma, in 2007.

Buddie is survived by two daughters, Elaine, and her husband, Jim Penner, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Debbie, and her husband, Daryle Greer, of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and a son-in-law, Gary Vaughan, and his wife Linda, of Edmond, Oklahoma; one brother, Paul Switzer, and his wife Glenna , of Moriarty, New Mexico; a sister-in-law, Beulah Switzer, of Hydro, Oklahoma; and a brother-in-law, Richard Allen, of Honolulu, Hawaii; eight grandchildren, Rick and wife, Stephanie Vaughan, Wendy and husband Scott Norris, and Loni and husband, Glenn McIntyre; Erin and husband Matt Bernett, Tisha and husband Todd Franz, and Kyler and husband, Brett Roper; Tyke and wife, Mandy Greer, and Tara Greer; fourteen great-grandchildren, Dillon Vaughan, Madison Vaughan, Logan Vaughan, Kristina Jones, and Taylor Jones; Zachary Norris, Caleb Norris, and Braden Norris; Vaughan McIntyre; Carter Bernett; Sawyer Franz and Rawley Franz; and Asher Roper and Logan Roper.

Buddie was preceded in death by his wife, Erma, daughter, Cheryl Vaughan, granddaughter, Shae Penner, his parents, Aaron and Annie Switzer, three brothers, Ira Switzer, Harry Switzer, and Eldon Switzer, and one sister, Marilyn Allen.

Memorials may be made to the Bethany Brethren in Christ Church in Thomas.
